Beshear orders flags to half-staff on March 20

FRANKFORT, Ky. –  Gov. Andy Beshear has ordered flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Thursday, March 20.

According to the governor’s office, the tribute is to honor Sgt. George Ramirez of the Kentucky State Reformatory in Oldham County. Officials say he died in a vehicle crash while traveling to an off-site post on the evening of March 10.

A memorial service for Ramirez will be held Thursday.

All individuals are invited to participate in lowering their flag.
