Beshear orders flags to half-staff on July 22 to honor fallen service member

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Andy Beshear has ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, July 22.

The governor’s office says the tribute is in honor of a Kentucky native who died while on active duty with the U.S. Air Force.

Tech. Sgt. Andrew Hemsath died July 5 while assigned to the 335th Fighter Generation Squadron, Eilson Air Force Base, Alaska.

Hemsath’s family will honor his life at a private service and burial on Monday.

Beshear encourages all individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
