Beshear: National Weather Service confirms 11 tornadoes hit Kentucky this week

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Andy Beshear provided the latest information on the results of severe weather earlier this week during his Team Kentucky Update Thursday.
According to the governor’s office, 11 tornadoes were confirmed in Anderson, Bourbon, Boyd, Clark, Henry, Jefferson, Jessamine, Mason, McCracken and Nelson counties.
Although most of these were categorized as EF-1, one of the two tornadoes in Boyd County is believed to have been an EF-2, Beshear says.
Straight-line wind damage was also confirmed in Fayette, Mercer, Spencer and Woodford counties.
Beshear says 3,575 power outages remain, down from over 32,700.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has not reported more blocked roads since Wednesday, but Highway 3179 (Oil Well Road) in Barren County remains blocked after a section of road washed away.
