Beshear: Kentucky-based soldiers among 6 from US killed in Iran attacks

FRANKFORT, Ky. – On Tuesday, Gov. Andy Beshear confirmed United States soldiers are among those killed in the recent Iran attacks, including some Kentucky-based troops.
Beshear posted to X Tuesday morning, stating, “America, let’s join together and pray for the families of the now six soldiers killed in attacks by Iran — including those based out of my home state, Kentucky. Let’s wrap our arms around them during this difficult time.”

The six total deaths are an increase after the initial toll on Sunday of three U.S. soldier deaths were confirmed, according to Beshear.
The identities of those killed have not been released at this time.
According to CBS News, United States Central Command confirmed Monday the six service members were killed in a campaign dubbed “Operation Epic Fury,” which occurred in Kuwait.
The updated death toll comes after U.S. forces recovered the remains of two service members that were previously unaccounted for from a facility that was struck during Iran’s initial attacks in the region, CBS News states.
In addition, CBS News reported Monday that 18 U.S. service members had been “seriously wounded across the region from attacks.”
News 40 will continue to provide the latest updates as they are released.
