Beshear confirms 11 deaths after weekend weather system

FRANKOFORT, Ky. – Gov. Andy Beshear announced that 11 people have died as a result of the intense weekend weather.

That’s an addition of two since Sunday night.

Those include an adult male in Hardin County and an adult male in Floyd County, according to officials. Other fatalities included a man in Clay County, a woman and a child in Hart County, three men in Pike County, a man in Hart County, a man in Nelson County and a woman in Washington County.

The devastation is not limited to just one or two counties but rather can be seen across the state.

Beshear says work isn’t done just yet, and he’s grateful for everyone who has reached out a helping hand.

At least 14,000 people are without power this afternoon, and 17,000 are without water. In addition, 175 soldiers and airmen are currently engaged in rescue operations, including four from the Indiana Guard.
