OHIO COUNTY, Ky. – A Beaver Dam man is facing charges after police say he led a high-speed pursuit Sunday night.

Ohio County sheriff Adam Wright says deputies were dispatched for a physical domestic around 11:19 p.m. Authorities say when they arrived at the scene on Rochester Road, the suspect had already left in a white pick up truck.

Wright says deputies found the truck at a KeyStop gas station on U.S. 231, where they tried to initiate a traffic stop before the suspect drove off at a high speed.

The suspect was later identified as John Anderson, 42, of Beaver Dam.

According to authorities, Anderson passed through a residential backyard and struck a sheriff’s deputy cruiser. Authorities say the suspect then nearly struck a Beaver Dam Police cruiser head on while approaching the intersection of Bruce School Road and U.S. 231.

Authorities say Anderson continued down Rochester Road to the Green River before slowing down and attempting to get a deputy to approach the passenger window.

At this time, authorities say the deputy remained at a safe distance, and the suspect drove off again and began to drive toward Beaver Dam.

Beaver Dam police and the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office deployed spike strips without success. Authorities say this is when Anderson tried to strike a sheriff’s deputy. Eventually, authorities say the vehicle left the road and overturned.

Anderson received medical care by officers on the scene until EMS arrived, officials say.

Anderson was transported to a medical facility. Charges are pending at this time.
