Drug overdoses are up 30 percent from last year

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Drug overdoses are up 30 percent from last year – drugs causing 250 deaths per day, according to the Bowling Green Warren County Drug Task Force.

You can help stop that statistic from growing.

 If you have any old prescription drugs sitting around in your cabinets, you can get rid of them safely this Saturday.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, you can dispose of prescriptions and vape pens safely thanks to the Warren County Drug Task Force and local authorities.

There are three collection points in Bowling Green, one at the Bowling Green Police Department, another at the Kentucky State Police Post 3 and the third in front of Greenwood High School.

Bowling Green Warren County Drug Task Force director Tommy Loving said, “Studies have shown that most teenage drug use starts at home or in someone else’s home by finding those meds in the cabinet and experimenting with them…. We don’t want good citizens to become an accidental drug dealer.”

You can drop off prescription pills at these locations and over 5000 sites nationwide Saturday April 30th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
