Bauer and Skidmore earn CUSA Player of the Week honors
BOLWING GREEN, Ky. – Notching their 83rd and 84th straight conference wins, WKU Volleyball had two players named Conference USA Players of the Week on Monday. Freshman outside hitter Alivia Skidmore was named Freshman of the Week while redshirt junior setter Callie Bauer was named Setter of the Week for the second straight week.
Skidmore’s performance consisted of 28 total kills for a .650 hitting clip [28-2-40] through her six sets of play. Her efforts led to a 4.67 kills per set rate while extending her offensive efforts to the service line where she recorded one on the weekend.
Bauer once again was all over the floor for the Hilltoppers (17-6 overall, 10-0 CUSA), posting 85 total assists on the weekend for 14.17 assists per set. At the back row, Bauer helped anchor WKU’s defensive efforts with 11 total digs.
The two helped lead the Hilltoppers to 10 wins in conference play, only the second team in CUSA to reach 10 wins so far. Bauer also leads the conference in assists with 884 total, and an average of 10.65 assists per set.
This week’s honors marks the third Setter of the Week accolade for Bauer and the second Freshman of the Week honor for Skidmore.
WKU Volleyball heads to El Paso this weekend to take on the University of Texas at El Paso Friday and Saturday. First match on Friday is set for 7 p.m. CT.
