Bauer and Cox invited to USA Volleyball Open Program

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (WKU SPORTS) – For the second straight year, WKU Volleyball’s Callie Bauer and Kaylee Cox have been selected to attend USA Volleyball’s National Team Open Program this weekend, in Colorado Springs, Colo.
“The Open Program is an excellent opportunity for our Women’s National Team staff to observe USA Volleyball hopefuls under one roof.” said U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach Karch Kiraly. “This country is filled with young volleyball talent. For our Women’s National Team to sustain competitive excellence, our WNT staff must be dialed in to the growing potential throughout our National Team Development Program as well as top NCAA student-athletes.”
More than 200 women’s volleyball players are expected to converge on the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs on Feb. 23-25 for the USAV Women’s National Team Open Program. The Women’s National Team Open Program (WNTOP), formerly known as the Open Tryout, is used for consideration for selection to both the U.S. Women’s National Team and the U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team.
Both Bauer and Cox participated in the program last season. The year prior, WKU saw Paige Briggs and Lauren Matthews attend the weekend event.
Led by U.S. Women’s Head Coach Karch Kiraly, the Women’s National Team staff and over 45 volleyball coaches from around the country, athletes will participate in skill-specific activities and match play throughout the Open Program.
