Barrett leads WKU in first round as a Lady Topper

MOBILE, Ala. – WKU Women’s Golf senior transfer Kenlie Barrett leads the squad through the first round of the USA Intercollegiate, her first round in the Red and White.

As a team, the Lady Toppers shot 5-over 293 in the opening round. WKU is tied for sixth with South Alabama and Arkansas State, three shots back from Troy who is in fifth.

Barrett shot 1-under 71 at the par-72, 6,002-yard RTJ Magnolia Grove – Crossings Course on Saturday. She is tied for 10th, just two shots outside the top five, after finishing her round with three birdies in her last seven holes.

Also playing her first round as a Lady Topper is freshman Faith Martin. The Bowling Green, Ky., native shot even-par 72 in the first collegiate round of her career. She is currently tied for 15th.

Sophomore Rachel Rich returned to the course for WKU with a 2-over 74. She is tied for 32nd, only one stroke back from the top 25 individuals. Rich closed out her round by carding two birdies and a par.

WKU counted a 4-over 76 as its final score of the day as junior Sarah Arnold and freshman Catie Craig each carded that number. They are tied for 52nd on the leaderboard.

Sophomore Addie Westbrook posted a 3-over 75 as an individual and is tied for 41st while fifth year Olivia Reed shot 5-over 77.

The Lady Toppers are slated to tee off for the second round at 8 a.m. CT on Sunday morning.
