Barren Inc. announces award recipients for 2025 Achievement in Business Awards Luncheon
GLASGOW, Ky. – Barren Inc., the Barren County Chamber of Commerce, hosted its annual Achievement in Business Awards Luncheon on Thursday.
According to Barren Inc., the event in Glasgow recognized individuals for their contributions to the local economy and community across five categories, including Administrative Professional of the Year, Farmer of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Magnolia Award and Small Business Person of the Year.
Administrative Professional of the Year Award, sponsored by NuWay Custom Portable Buildings
This award aims to recognize and celebrate the contributions made by administrative professionals in today’s fast-paced and dynamic business world.
This year’s award recipient, Nancy Griffin, serves as the executive support specialist at T.J. Regional Health and is known for her professionalism, efficiency and unwavering dedication.
According to Barren Inc., she “consistently goes above and beyond her role, anticipating needs, managing complex tasks with ease and providing critical support with grace and positivity. Her exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to foster a welcoming, productive environment make her an invaluable asset to her team.”
As one colleague shared, “She knows what I need before I need it.”
Farmer of the Year Award, sponsored by Barren County Farm Bureau Federation
The Farmer of the Year Award was presented to Carl B. Franklin. According to Barren Inc., this award was created to appreciate Barren County’s local agriculture community that impacts the area.
Franklin has reportedly dedicated his life to agriculture, exemplifying resilience, innovation and unwavering commitment. As the steward of a five-generation, 600-acre farm in Park City, Franklin officially took over operations in 1992 but has been farming since childhood. Even after a life-altering injury in 1979, his determination never faltered—he continued to farm with grit and ingenuity.
Known for his mechanical expertise and ability to adapt traditional farming with modern methods, Franklin has built a legacy of excellence. At 81, he remains active, managing over 250 beef cattle and hay production, while also giving back through community involvement and agricultural organizations.

The 2025 Magnolia Award was presented to Cortni Crews of Barren County Schools for her outstanding leadership, compassion and commitment to community. Named after the Magnolia Tree—a symbol of strength and lasting connection—this award recognizes women who inspire through their achievements and service.
According to Barren Inc., Crews exemplifies these qualities through her dedication to over 5,000 students, personal mentorship, and tireless advocacy for mental health and student success.
Presented by Shannon Clark of Houchens Food Group, this award celebrates Crews as a true role model and a powerful force for positive change.
2025 Small Business Person of the Year Award, sponsored by The Peoples Bank
This honor, presented by Terry Bunnell, was awarded to Nicole Rock of Golden Gate Bridges for her exceptional leadership, creativity and dedication to both her business and the broader community. According to Barren Inc., Rock embodies the very spirit of this award—demonstrating resilience, innovation and a people-first approach in all she does.
Through thoughtful leadership, bold initiatives and a genuine passion for making a difference, she has created a business that not only thrives but uplifts others. Her impact reaches far beyond the workplace, making her a true example of what it means to be a small business leader in Barren County.
