GLASGOW, Ky. – On Thursday morning, Barren Inc. The Barren County Chamber of Commerce held its annual Achievement in Business Awards News Conference.

The chamber also announced the winners of its 2025 Magnolia Award and Small Business Person of the Year. According to Barren Inc., these awards recognize outstanding individuals who have demonstrated excellence in leadership, entrepreneurship, and community impact in Barren County.

The Magnolia Award sponsored by Houchens Industries recognizes a female leader who demonstrates excellence in the Barren County community. This year the Magnolia Award went to Cortni Crews with Barren County Schools. Cortni, embodies the award’s spirit through her dedication to education, mentorship, and community impact. As Associate Superintendent for Barren County Schools, she not only leads but fosters personal connections that uplift students and educators alike. From championing mental health services to securing over $100,000 in donations for student needs, her influence is profound. A mentor, advocate, and visionary, Cortni’s unwavering commitment makes her a truly deserving recipient of the 2025 Magnolia Award.

The final award presented was the Small Business Person of the Year sponsored by The Peoples Bank. This award recognizes a local business owner who demonstrates excellence in entrepreneurship and operating a successful small business. This year Nicole Rock with Golden Gate Bridges was announced as the recipient. Nicole has an unwavering dedication to empowering individuals and transforming lives through her leadership at Golden Gate Bridges. Under her guidance, the business has flourished, providing essential support services that go beyond basic care—offering independence, stability, and enriching experiences to those who need it most. Nicole’s work is deeply personal, ensuring that individuals with unique challenges are not just supported but truly embraced as part of a community. From securing welcoming homes to organizing once-in-a-lifetime experiences that bring joy and adventure, she has redefined what it means to care for others. Her passion, perseverance, and commitment to inclusivity have made Golden Gate Bridges a beacon of hope, proving that no one should be limited by circumstance.

Cortni and Nicole will be honored at the Achievement in Business Awards Luncheon on May 8, 2025, where they will serve as the event’s keynote speakers. At this luncheon, Barren Inc. will also announce the 2025 Administrative Professional of the Year, Farmer of the Year, and Small Business of the Year. The luncheon marks the beginning of Small Business Appreciation Month and provides an opportunity to celebrate the vital role that local businesses and community leaders play in shaping a thriving, supportive community.
