Barren County YMCA hosts annual Senior Health Fair and Farmers Market

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – The Barren County YMCA hosted its annual Senior Health Fair and Farmers Market Monday morning, providing the senior community with many local resources.

Over 46 vendors were in attendance at the fair today, showing the community what resources and services they have to offer.

Companies like The Barren River Area Development District and T.J. Regional Health were there, helping provide seniors in the area with services they may not have known were there for them.

This is one of the YMCA’s most attended and successful events each year due to how much the company does in helping the senior community in Barren County.

The YMCA offers programs for older adults, such as their Silver Sneakers program, Senior Chair Volleyball, Chair Bingo and a BRADD Lunch Program. These programs give them access to the facility and a chance to stay active among their peers.

Due to these programs, they serve over 1,800 older adults daily and aim to care for them in any way possible and provide them with the necessary services to cater to their needs.

It is very important that we take care of our seniors. It’s all about the quality of life and what our community has to offer towards that. So anything that we can help to bridge that gap on that quality of life,” said Tara Bailey, CEO and executive director of the Barren County YMCA.
