Barren County to clean up next week
GLASGOW, Ky. – Spring is in full swing and that means spring cleaning for some. One local county isn’t letting COVID-19 stop their citizens from removing clutter.
Next week, Barren County will host their county clean-up week. It’s a chance for residents to get rid of larger items that can’t be disposed of through routine trash pickup.
If you live in Barren County, you can take things like furniture and appliances to designated sites equipped with dumpsters. Because of social-distancing, you will need to be able to lift and place the items in the dumpsters yourself.
Jamie Cummings, Barren County’s Solid Waste and Code Enforcement Associate, says with so much downtime for local residents, now is a perfect time to tackle cleanup jobs. The service is free.
You can drop off items like appliances, dressers, couches, recliners and mattresses. It’s important to be sure smaller items are in bags. Loose items are not accepted. The drop-off sites will not accept tires, batteries, liquids, paint, oil and pesticides. Drop-off times are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The collection sites are:
Hiseville (Mill Street), Monday, April 27
Park City (Bells Tavern), Tuesday, April 28
Cave City Volunteer Fire Department, Tuesday, April 28
East Barren Volunteer Fire Department, Wednesday, April 29
Austin Tracy Volunteer Fire Department, Thursday, April 30
Haywood Volunteer Fire Department, Thursday, April 30
Temple Hill Fair Grounds, Friday, May 1
South Barren Volunteer Fire Department (on Steam Mill Road), Friday, May 1
