Barren County seniors head to military academies
BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Two students graduating from Barren County High School will soon be off to the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force.
Congressman Brett Guthrie visited Barren County Schools today to publicly recognize two students for making their first step into a military career. To join either academy, a U.S. state representative or senator has to nominate you along with the application to the academy, and the acceptance rates are extremely low.
Today, two Barren County seniors will be off to their first day at the academy on June 26. Guthrie said he’s always so happy to see young people go off to serve the country, he said “it’s voluntary, no one is making them do that”.
