Barren County Schools announces partnership to provide students healthcare training

GLASGOW, Ky. – A new collaboration to expand healthcare training in Barren County was announced on Tuesday.
Barren County Schools, in partnership with T.J. Regional Health and Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC), announced the expansion of healthcare training for students, according to a release.
The partnership will provide students Nurse Aide (CNA) training from January through March 2026.
BCS says the training will be after school hours at the SKYCTC nursing facility. The program will be a dual-credit course.
Juniors and seniors enrolled in the WKU-Glasgow Early College program and/or the Biomedical Science pathway can earn a professional certification.
BCS says this allows students to prepare for future careers in the medical field.
According to a release, T.J. Regional Health will provide full program sponsorship and potential employment to students who complete the program.
The release states that the Kentucky Workforce Innovation Board (KWIB) has identified “Healthcare” among the Commonwealth’s Top Five In-Demand Sectors.
The ten Barren County High School students selected for this inaugural program are Haylin Adams, Rebecca Boone, Baylor Browning, Neela Furlong, Haley Mutter, Halle Nesbitt, Briley Tangen, Taylor Uhles, Sephora Velcine, and Mary Claire Warren.
