Barren County Schools announce new Director of Special Programs

GLASGOW, Ky. – The Barren County Board of Education announced Christa Middleton as its new Director of Special Programs on Monday.
Middleton has served the Barren County Schools system since 2004. She began her teaching career as a Special Education teacher at Barren County Middle School before moving to North Jackson Elementary in the same role in 2009 until 2019.
Middleton currently serves as Teacher Consultant for Special Programs, the English Learner Coordinator, and the Trojan Way Center Coordinator.
“I have worked closely with Christa throughout her time in Barren County Schools, and she has excelled in every position she has held. She has developed as a leader who has a heart for students, and I know she will do outstanding work in this new role,” said Outgoing Director of Special Programs Cynthia York.
“I am honored to be named as the next Director of Special Programs for Barren County Schools. I look forward to serving in this capacity and carrying forward Barren County’s commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments that empower all students to reach their full potential,” said Middleton.
Middleton attended Western Kentucky University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (2003), Master of Arts in Education for Learning and Behavior Disorders (2006), Rank 1 Certification for Director of Special Education (2019), and Level I Principal Certification (2020).
Middleton will begin her new role on July 1.
