Barren County School District builds new resources
GLASGOW, Ky. – Building a new future for the Barren County Schools.
As of Tuesday, construction was underway on what will be a brand new Barren County preschool. Right across the way, a new central district office is under construction as well. As far as construction on the preschool, time is of the essence, and all has been going well.
“The construction in the preschool building has been excellent. I know we’re on a tight schedule, but the contractors have done a wonderful job meeting deadline. We’re anticipating and have no worries that we’ll be ready to start school beginning of August for our preschoolers, said Barren County School District director of facilities Anthony Frazier.
District staff say this resource will come just in time, as the upcoming fall semester is set to bring all students back to an in-person classroom setting.
“We’ve been waiting for this for over a year. We’re excited to have the kids back in person. We can give them the instruction that they deserve, and the time in the classroom with teachers. It’s an exciting time for Barren County Schools,” Frazier said.
Having the new preschool means the district will have more space to offer the opportunity to students, even if the elementary schools happen to fill up.
“We’ve been experiencing growth in the Barren County School District, this facility is allowing us extra space for school if there’s not capacity in our elementary schools for us to still be able to educate our preschool, and have them in the Barren County school system,” Frazier said.
The new central office is expected to be complete by early 2022
