Barren County Middle School FFA brings home honors

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Barren County Middle School represented its district at the 95th annual Kentucky State FFA Convention.
Nearly 3,000 middle and high school FFA members from across Kentucky attended the event in Lexington, Kentucky from June 3-6 at the Central Bank Center, according to a release Monday by the Barren County School District.
While at the convention, the district says FFA members competed in individual and team competitions.
The release states 10 Barren County Middle School FFA members were in attendance, including Jacob Wilson, Audrey Carter, Hallie Hughes, Gracie Jones, Kinsley Mattox, Irelynn Williams, Kadyn Sharp, Lily Turner, Lacyie Mauk and Chloe Floyd.
Each student represented Barren County Middle FFA, placing in top honors, the district says.
The awards received were as follows:
Extemporaneous Speaking
- Cambree Lile – first place and state winner.
Prepared Public Speaking
- Emma Jones – second place state winner
Agriscience Fair
- Audrey Carter & Kinsley Mattox received first place in the animal system category, division 2.
Jacob Wilson received first place in the agriculture structure and technical systems category,
division 1. These students have the potential opportunity to compete on the national level if
they are selected as one of the top 12 research projects by the National FFA Organization.
Irelynn Williams received second place in the social systems category, division 1, and Hallie
Hughes received second place in the animal systems category, division 1. Kadyn Sharp and
Katelynn Reece received a top 20 winner in plant science division 2.
Agricultural Discussion Meet
- Lily Turner, Chloe Floyd, Laycie Mauk, and Gracie Jones – top 5 winning team.
Opening & Closing Ceremonies Team
- Jacob Wilson, Audrey Carter, Gracie Jones, Hallie Hughes, Kinsley Mattox, and Emma Hunt –
top 10 winning team.
The district states that “Barren County Middle School FFA students worked hard, and their efforts paid off. Our FFA chapter is proud of each one of our members who represented us at the 95th Kentucky FFA Convention.”
