Barren County man accused of abusing girlfriend and 2-week-old infant

GLASGOW, Ky.- A Barren County man is behind bars, after being charged with 11 counts of criminal abuse on a child under 12 years old.

According to the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a domestic complaint Thursday afternoon in the 2700 block of Bon Ayr Road.

When investigators arrived, a woman told them that her boyfriend, James Moore, 24, had choked her and had also been physically abusive to their 2-week-old child.

Both the girlfriend and the child were transported to TJ Samson Hospital for treatment of injuries. The child was later taken to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville for further treatment.

During their investigation, deputies say they learned Moore had physically abused the child and mother multiple times. He was interviewed and then arrested.

In addition to the child abuse charges, Moore was charged with four counts of domestic assault.

Moore was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center.
