Barren County celebrates 225 years of history

GLASGOW, Ky. – In Barren County, a celebration took place for the past 225 years of the county’s history.

Glasgow Square was filled to the brim with vendors and food trucks, and the community was able to see a tractor show, participate in a cornhole tournament and so much more.

One of the more unique contests was the Beard & Mustache competition, hosted by a local barber shop.

“We have three categories. The first category is the handlebar contest, the best handlebars. Then we have the longest and the neatest… basically the longest beard, the neatest, cleanest. We also have the Santa Claus beard, the whitest, the longest, the one that looks most like Santa’s,” Crystal King from Legacy Barber Shop says.

The celebration concluded Sunday with the sealing of a time capsule that will be opened in 50 years from now in 2073.
