Barren County Beta students represent at national convention

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – The Barren County School District is congratulating senior Beta students and sponsors after the latest national convention in Savannah, Georgia.

Grant Harper was elected National Senior Beta president, According to the district, the following Barren County High School students are National Beta Convention winners:

  • Sixth place: Agriscience, 12th grade – Mollie Webb.
  • First place: Agriscience, 11th grade – Abigail Coleman.
  • First place: Agriscience, 9th grade – Adeline Coleman.
  • Ninth place: Social Studies, 12th grade – Tyler Carnes-Christie.
  • Seventh place: Recyclable Art D2 – Abigail Coleman.
  • Fifth place: Technology – Madyson Coots
  • Third: Solo, Duo, Trio – Variety Act – Lane Schlafke, Isaac Gentry
  • First place: Campaign Skit
  • Sixth place: Show Choir
  • Premier Performer – Dancers: Tinsley Neagle, Emma Smith
  • Premier Performer – Vocalists: Anna Kate Alexander, Abby Carter, Madyson Coots

BCHS Beta sponsor Stephanie Esters commented, “I am so proud of not only the awards but how these students conducted themselves and supported one another. All of our test-takers placed in the top 10 nationally, a first for our school. Several other group and individual events also placed. Furthermore, as the Kentucky State Beta Sponsor, I am excited to serve alongside Grant Harper as Kentucky Senior Beta President next year and to support him as the newly-elected National Beta President. The other sponsors and I are beyond thrilled and can’t wait to celebrate this amazing group of Beta students.”

Harper responded, “I am super excited to embark on the journey as National Beta President! This has been in the works ever since I joined this organization back in fourth grade. I met so many young leaders from across the nation, and I can’t wait to serve them in this position. I’d like to give a huge shoutout to Barren County Schools and to our amazing community for all the support and opportunities within and outside of Beta Club.”

Harper’s responsibilities as president will include presiding over and addressing members in group sessions at the National Senior Beta Convention and representing National Beta at various state conventions, according to the district.

Incoming Barren County School superintendent Amy Irwin expressed her support, “We have a fantastic group of Beta sponsors and students who are dedicated to community service, academic excellence, and leadership. We love to see them shine at conventions, and we are proud of their servant leadership within our school community.”
