Barren County awarded $19,543 for emergency food and shelter programs

GLASGOW, Ky.- Barren County has been awarded federal funds through the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA, totaling $19,543.
The money is coming from the agencies Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program.
According to a news release, the selection was made by a Board that consists of members from FEMA, the American Red Cross, United Way Worldwide and a number of other agencies.
A local Board, made up of officials from Barren County, will determine which local organizations will receive the funding.
In the past, Barren County has distributed emergency food and shelter funds to Community Relief Fund for Glasgow-Barren County, Inc., Community Action of Southern Kentucky, Inc., and Barren River Area Safe Space, Inc.
Public or private voluntary agencies interested in applying for Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds must complete an application.
