Barren County Area Technology Center expands
GLASGOW Ky.- Students of Barren County have something to look forward to when school starts, a fresh new area technology center.
Due to a growing student body, from a new hall to new gear, the Barren County Area Technology Center is getting additional resources, which Barren County superintendent Bo Matthews is looking forward to.
“It’s just like Christmas morning. We can’t wait for our students to come back to us in August just to see the new spaces that have been created,” Matthews said.
The additions to the center have already been well received by students.
“I’m really excited. It’s going to be a new opportunity for all us students, and I think it’s really great for the whole Barren population,” upcoming Barren County High School junior Edison Shipley said.
A big change of the building that’s currently in development, is a diesel shop, where students will get hands on experience with work like tire maintenance and fleet management. Matthews said this process has been a long one, but one that’s nearing completion.
“You go into any kind of large-scale process like this with an open mind and the understanding that there are unknowns that you encounter when dealing with a project that is as much renovation as it is construction,” Matthews said.
And it’s a process that Matthews says is worth the wait.
“The excitement is really building as we’re moving into the late part of summer,” Matthews said.
