BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – This past week, the Barren County Archery Team competed in the NASP Championship Tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

As a team, the district says they compete in the 3D challenge and finished in 12th place out of 58 teams with a score of 1,667. Barren County Schools says this ties their score for the year.

Leading the way for the team were archers Dylan Black (288), Michael Pedigo (284), Kathrynn Dooley (275), Maleigha Drury (274 – a personal best with a perfect round of 50), Micah Myatt (274 – a personal best) and Elizabeth Hale (272). J.D. Mills also had his first perfect round of 50 during the shoot, and Avery Chapman shot a personal best of 245.

Black, Dooley and Jones also qualified to compete in the individual bullseye competition. Black finished with an overall rank of 20 out of 1604 archers with a personal best score of 293. Dooley scored a 268 and Jones a 261.

“We’re incredibly proud of how our students performed—not just because of their scores, but because of the focus, discipline, and sportsmanship they showed throughout the tournament,” said Brittanie Cleveland, Barren County Archery coordinator. “Programs like NASP do so much more than teach archery—they build confidence, character, and a sense of community among our students.”
