Barren Co. Sheriff’s Office receives funding to support training

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – The Barren County Sheriff’s Office will benefit from recent funding to support training of its personnel.

According to Barren County government officials, representatives with the Kentucky Association of Counties presented Barren County sheriff Kent Keen with a grant award of nearly $6,500.

Officials say the grant aims to fund initiatives that “reduce insurance claims and lawsuits for Kentucky counties.”

Part of the $6,494,40 will go to training sheriff’s department personnel, officials say, which would include close quarters tactics, tactical firearms training, mechanical breaching training and more.

Officials say effective training can help law enforcement to better handle situations, which can reduce the possibility of incidents that could result in loss claims or lawsuits.
