Barnett signs to play football with Georgetown College Tigers

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Wednesday afternoon over at the home of the Raiders, Warren East defensive lineman Damontre Barnett signed his letter of intent to play football at Georgetown College.

Barnett was joined in attendance by many friends, coaches and of course family as he signed across the dotted line.

After missing his senior season due to injury, Barnett is anxious to return to the field when he joins the Tigers in the fall.

Being down in the trenches, Barnett may not have the most boastful stats, but his coaches shared that he’s a fierce competitor, a hard worker and a great leader on the defensive line, all qualities that led to a playing career after high school.

If you were wondering what type of player Georgetown is getting, it’s not necessarily a Tiger, but more so a ‘dog’.

“ Coach is getting a dog,” Barnett said. ” A great leadership person, great mental toughness. When it gets tough, we’re going to continue to work, we’re not going to let it phase us or knock us off our path.”

“I believe in what Coach Perin has for us. I believe in his journey and the path that he has and what he wants to do with Georgetown, I really believe in it. I’m ready to dive in and get to work.”
