Bank to offer debit cards that benefit local animal shelters

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- A local bank is finalizing details to offer a debit card that will benefit area animal shelters.

Morgantown Bank and Trust will give customers who open up a checking account the option to get a Humane Society Debit Card. Every time the card is swiped as a credit purchase, a percentage of the transaction will go to the shelters. Current checking account customers who want the card can ask for it now and will be issued one when they become available.

Bank officials are working with the Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society and the Butler County Animal Shelter on the initiative.

The goal is to launch the program in August.
