Band prepares to compete

GLASGOW Ky.- Saturdays during marching band season are big for Kentucky bands.

Competition day is where high school marching bands travel to different schools and perform in front of cheering fans and a panel of judges.

Bands are rated based on best percussion, color guard, wind instruments and overall visuals.

During the summer months, students in the marching band spend around 8 hours a day practicing and even practice for a few hours a day after school.

Students from the Glasgow High School Scottie band say they’re ready to hit the field.

“What we’re going to focus on is really cleaning a lot of aspects in our show,” said Glasgow High School Senior Caleb Bush.

“We’re really excited, a little nervous, but I think that we’re ready to go. We’re very confident,” said Glasgow High School Senior Kaemyn Houchens.

“Overall, competition day is really fun because you get to put all this hard work, and you actually get to execute it,” said Glasgow High School Senior Dru Smith.
