Aviation Summer Camp kicks off at BGWC Regional Airport
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Monday is the kickoff of the 2024 Aviation Summer Camp at the Bowling Green Warren County Regional Airport.
There are two camps that take place… the Jim & Jan Bohannon Camp is Monday & Tuesday for ages 10 to 17, while the Bob & Cara Pitchford Camp is Wednesday & Thursday for ages 10 and up.
On day one, students hopped on a flight simulator, as well as learned how to create a flight plan and more.
We spoke to one camper, who tells us what his favorite part of camp has been and what he hopes to take away from his experience in flying.
“That I get to feel like a real pilot up in the air when we’re flying the Cessna and I get to see all the navigation, and the six pack and all that,” Henry Blandford says.
The big final project involves students helping to fly an actual plane with an FAA certified instructor.
The camp is already filled this year, but you are able to request a spot on the wait list for next year’s camp.
