Aviation Heritage Park to soon begin fundraising for indoor museum

Bowling Green’s Aviation Heritage Park will soon begin an official fundraising campaign to raise money for its new indoor museum.

The $2 million facility will be located at the park’s current site on Three Springs Road. The venue will feature aviation memorabilia, classrooms and space for planes and events. The building will be 11,000 sq ft.

As of today, the park’s staff has already raised $300,000 through a grant and some donations.

"I think it will make us a very unique community, especially for a community the size of Bowling Green," said Joe Tinius, the park’s board president. "I’ve done some research and in my initial research, I haven’t found a community of this size that has an aviation museum, a car museum and a rail museum."

If all goes to plan, the fundraising campaign should begin in October, with a potential groundbreaking later in the fall or early spring.
