Aviation Heritage Park receives $500,000 anonymous donation for museum project

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- A local attraction is on the receiving end of a big donation.

An anonymous donor gave Bowling Green’s Aviation Heritage Park $500,000.

The money will be used to assist in the planning and construction of the park’s indoor museum project, which is being funded by private dollars.

Groundbreaking on the 11,000 sq. ft. museum occurred in October 2018. Once built, the venue will house aviation memorabilia, aircraft, classrooms and event space.

According to park president Joe Tinius, the gift puts the attraction past the halfway point in fundraising.

The first phase of the project, which included the environmental studies and site preparation, is now complete.

Construction should begin soon.
