Aviation Heritage Park dedicates Marine One helicopter
BOWLING GREEN Ky.- People gathered at the Aviation Heritage Park Saturday afternoon to witness the unveiling of a replica of the United States President’s helicopter, Marine One, like the one flown by the late Marine Colonel and Bowling Green resident Mac Reynolds.
At the event, attendance was limited due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Park staff, along with those who knew Reynolds personally spoke and shared some stories they had of the late colonel. Appreciation was shown for those on the restoration committee. After the event, those in attendance were invited to board the aircraft.
In an ordinary year AHP would reveal the artifact and celebrate the achievements of the honoree during the June Hangar Party at the Bowling Green airport. This did not take place due to the pandemic.
Reynolds flew Marine One for Presidents Reagan, Bush and Clinton. The H-3 helicopter will be the park’s eighth aircraft on display.
