Authorities investigating fatal house fire in Butler County

MORGANTOWN, Ky.- Kentucky State Police is investigating a fatal house fire that occurred Wednesday afternoon.

According to a news release, the fire occurred at a residence at 266 Granny’s Rockhouse Road in Morgantown. Authorities were dispatched at 3:43 p.m.

Multiple fire departments responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. An unidentified subject was discovered deceased in the burnt residence.

The deceased subject was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy is pending.

“It kind of depends on how backed up the lab is and how fast we can get the test results back. We’ll be waiting for the test results to be able to identify the subject and the remains that were found,” KSP Post 3 Trooper Daniel Priddy said.

No foul play is suspected at this time.
