Type 2 diabetes is the most expensive health condition in the U.S.

A review of over 40 billion insurance claims at the University of Washington shows Type 2 Diabetes is the most expensive health condition in the U.S., at $144 billion. It was followed by musculoskeletal disorders, oral disorders, heart disease, and urinary diseases.  Emergency department care had the fastest growth. New research finds antidepressants like Prozac can also protect against serious infections and sepsis. Scientists at the Salk Institute say the drugs can regulate the immune system and defend against infectious diseases.
