Auburn woman charged with DUI and fleeing police

AUBURN, Ky. – An Auburn woman is facing multiple charges following a pursuit in Logan County.
According to a uniform citation, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office was traveling eastbound at 12:39 a.m. Saturday on Highway 68/80 when the Russellville Police Department notified dispatch that they were behind a vehicle that was not stopping despite the officer having emergency lights activated.
During this time, authorities say the vehicle was passing Logan County High School.
After getting behind the vehicle, deputies say it was all over the roadway and traveled over 100 miles per hour.
Authorities say the driver then stopped at Highway 103 and Highway 68/80 due to the engine locking up.
The driver, identified as 26-year-old Lauren McElfresh of Auburn, was ordered out of the car.
McElfresh was detained.
Authorities say McElfresh showed clues of impairment and was arrested.
While at the Logan County Jail, authorities say McElfresh attempted to walk out when an inmate was released. McElfresh was restrained, according to authorities, and did not escape.
She faces charges of speeding 26 miles per hour or greater over the speed limit, reckless driving, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substance, first offense, license to be in possession, failure to produce insurance card, no registration receipt and second-degree disorderly conduct.
