Art in the Park at Basil Griffin Park

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Basil Griffin Park played host to a unique kind of fun this weekend, and it didn’t even involve any physical activity.

The first Art in the Park event took place on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon.

The morning featured many different stations, where kids and their families could create crafts and paint the sidewalk or a mural.

Warren County Parks and Rec hosted this event alongside the Warren County Public Library, and they are excited to raise awareness for the art community in Bowling Green.

“We just really haven’t had an art event in the last several years, in fact, at Warren County Parks and Rec. While we have things like the new mural at the Warren County tennis facility, we don’t have art programs or art events, so we kind of wanted to bring that to a park and celebrate art. So that was the thinking behind it, and we wanted to put our own twist on Art in the Park,” Jade Grabeel, operations coordinator for Warren County Parks & Rec, says.

Jade also says art is a form of recreation, and she loved seeing the kids having fun making crafts and drawing.
