Arrive Alive stops at Barren County High School to teach students about dangers of impaired driving

GLASGOW, Ky. – At Barren County High School, students are learning about the dangers of impaired driving firsthand.

Arrive Alive tours around the country at various high schools and colleges to teach the dangers of driving while high, drunk or distracted by phones.

Students hopped in a simulator car and put on a headset that made them experience the feeling of being drunk while driving.

Staff with Arrive Alive say they saw surprise in the students and hope they take away some important things from this lesson.

“A lot of shocked reactions… with the delay in our steering, depth perception, we put tunnel vision in to put in the full effect of driving high, drunk or distracted and… letting them learn about consequences and things like that. Not only is it bad to do it, but the punishments that come after,” Shaquille Hill says.

A couple of teachers even decided to try out the simulator, and they said it’s definitely important to drive distraction free.
