Applications being taken for justice, public safety programs

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — The Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet is taking applications for grants for justice and public safety programs. The cabinet said the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grants are funded through a Justice Department appropriation. The grants can be used for programs such as enforcement, prosecution, corrections, treatment, prevention and education. The total available hasn’t been announced. State and local government agencies and nonprofits are eligible to apply. The deadline is April 15.
