Annual Shop with a Cop event held at Meijer
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The holiday season is all about giving back to the community. That’s why the Fraternal Order of Police teamed up with the Boys and Girls Club to check off some kids’ wish lists.
Law enforcement officers from the Smiths Grove Police, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kentucky State Police gathered at the local Meijer to help families in need. Each family and their children were given a $100 budget to shop with.
Kids picked out games action figures, stuffed animals and clothes. The F.O.P sponsored over fifty children this year.
Mike Nade, President of the F.O.P., says forming relationships with these kids and seeing their smiles is why they continue to host events like these. Nade adds that he wants children to be able to view law enforcement officers as “someone they can turn to.” He adds that most kids think cops are only “out to catch them when they are bad,” but are actually here to help.
The Fraternal Order of Police also will host their annual Christmas Basket Delivery event on December 21st.
