Annual Holiday Handout in Glasgow
GLASGOW, Ky. – Holidays are full of good moments, but can add stress. This is especially evident when you get pulled over by the cops.
The Glasgow Police Department collaborated with River Lake Church to give back to the community. WNKY news staff was able to ride in police cars to watch the holiday magic unfold.
Officers pulled people over for minor traffic violations, like running a stop sign or a tail light bulb out. What most expected to be a sour run in with the cops. But tonight, folks experienced a sweet one.
Each person or group who was pulled over received an envelope. This contained a worship service invitation and $100 in cash.
One couple expressed that police officers are “not always bad,” and that this small act of kindness reassured them of that.
Paying it forward is making a difference in the lives of many, especially those who need it most. One gift recipient said that the money was such “a blessing.”
Glasgow police officer, Joshua Nael, said that “everybody makes mistakes.” He adds “moving forward” while doing “something bigger than life” is important.
