Animal shelter halts volunteers but encourages adoptions
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Like other area animal shelters, the Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society has closed its doors to volunteers for the time being to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Yet, the director of the shelter is encouraging the community to still adopt animals.
Lorri Hare says social distancing among humans is leading to fewer pet adoptions.
She says even though fewer adoptions are occurring, animals are still being brought into the shelter.
Hare says right now is a really great time to make that leap into getting a new pet.
Hare is also reminding the public that COVID-19 is not known to transmit between pets and humans.
