Alvaton resident shares impact of weather on property

ALVATON, Ky. – Rain and snow hit over the weekend, along with strong winds that tore through Warren County on Saturday night.

One Alvaton resident shared how this impacted his property.

Three tall trees fell in Eric Leach’s yard and took out his wife’s garden. The pines were around 70 feet tall.

Leach says, “Heard all of a sudden whistling and high winds and grabbed my son, and said, ‘hey, let’s head to the basement,’ and the whole house was just kind of shaking. And so I’m not sure what it was. It was just straight line winds. But it’s just amazing what Mother Nature can do and the damage and how quickly it can happen.”

His son’s batting cage, which had been staked to the ground, was also uprooted and smashed around.

A neighbor’s tree snapped in half and took out the power lines. All in all, it was a weekend for extreme weather.
