Alvaton man charged with DUI after collision

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – An Alvaton man is facing multiple charges after allegedly driving while intoxicated in Bowling Green.

According to the Bowling Green Police Department, officers responded shortly after 7:30 p.m. Thursday for a collision on Scottsville Road.

Upon arrival, police say one of the drivers, identified as Tony Gunnels, 67, of Alvaton, had signed of being intoxicated.

Police say Gunnels initially denied consuming any alcohol then admitted he had been drinking during Standard Field Sobriety Tests.

Gunnels was taken into custody and transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green for medical clearance.

Gunnels was then transported to the Warren County Regional Jail.

Police say the other vehicle involved in the collision had significant damage. However, officers say the other occupant did not have visible injuries.

Gunnels is charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, first offense, first-degree criminal mischief and first-degree wanton endangerment.
