Alonzo Webb, past BGHS track coach, hosts annual track meet
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The summer season is here, and Bowling Green Parks and Recreation is helping families find physical activities for children.
One major event kicking off the summer is the annual Alonzo Webb Track Meet. Held at the Bowling Green High School track, dozens of kids gathered to run, learn, and have fun.
For many, it was their first time ever participating in a track meet. Track Coach Alonzo Webb emphasized the importance of outdoor activity and sunshine for children’s physical health.
“Kids maybe don’t get enough exercise outside,” he said, adding that events like these are great for physical fitness. The track meet, now more than 20 years strong, offers children valuable experience they often miss during the school year.
Thanks to the efforts of community leaders, the tradition continues to inspire and energize local youth.
