Allen County student’s project featured in ‘Science in Agriculture’ exhibit

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – An Allen County resident is among 13 students from across the state that have been named to display their agriculture science projects at this week’s Kentucky Farm Bureau annual meeting in Louisville.
Carson Dalton, a fifth-grade student at Austin Tracy Elementary in Lucas, Kentucky, displayed a science project titled “The Effect of Plant Growth in Various Soil Types.”
According to the Kentucky Farm Bureau, Dalton’s project examined how different types of soil, including sand, silt, clay and loam, influence plant root growth.
Dalton was awarded $125 and a certificate of recognition for participating at the state level.
The Science of Agriculture program was developed by KFB to encourage teachers to incorporate agricultural themes into their classroom instruction. The KFB says projects are evaluated on categories, like creativity, skill, clarity and thoroughness, agricultural accuracy and scientific thought.
Congratulations on all students that have achieved this recognition.
