Allen County-Scottsville FFA member named FFA Regional Star Farmer

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A member of the Allen County-Scottsville Future Farmers of America Chapter is being recognized with a regional honor.
According to Allen County PR/Photos, Ty Jones has been named the FFA Regional Star Farmer for the Barren River Region. Officials say this is one of the highest honors a FFA member can earn regionally.
Nikki Towe, FFA advisor at AC-SHS, stated in a press release that candidates for the award “have demonstrated exceptional achievement in production agriculture through their Supervised Agricultural Experience programs.”
“From a young age, Ty (Jones) was immersed in agriculture, and his interest quickly grew into a deep-rooted passion for farming,” Towe said. “His cattle program began with a Red Angus cow gifted to him at birth, and has since expanded to include SimAngus and Charolais cattle. In 2021, he added two South Poll heifers to his herd to take advantage of crossbreeding and heterosis. Today, his cattle are marketed through his family’s on-farm production sales each spring and fall.”
According to a release, his SAE program features an impressive operation, including 96 registered seedstock beef cattle, 17 seedstock swine, 52 club lamb ewes and 83 commercial hair ewes.
Along with his success, officials say Jones is an advocate “for the agricultural industry and a firm believer in its future.”
“He told me as a freshman that he wanted to be the State Star Farmer,” Towe said. “He’s never wavered from that dream, and he’s worked hard every day to make it happen.”
Jones graduates in May with plans to attend Oklahoma State University.
