Allen Co. Board of Education hosts meeting about athletic facility upgrades

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – On Monday, the community was invited to provide suggestions for outdoor athletic facilities at Allen County-Scottsville High School and the district campus.
According to Allen County Schools, the Allen County Board of Education approved the $15 million renovation and upgrade.
On Feb. 10, district officials say dozens of members of the community attended a special session with the Board of Education to ask questions or discuss what they would like to see included in the project.
Officials say parents, coaches, program directors, students and citizens shared their opinions with architects Sherman, Carter and Barnhart.
Topics discussed included the need for a multi-purpose facility like the Patriot Athletic Complex.
This new facility would provide more space for teams and groups to practice, assisting sports and band, winter guard, dance and archery, officials say.
Another topic included upgrades or new fields for football, soccer, baseball and softball, practice areas, restroom improvements, added weight training facilities and a meeting space.
The district says architects said the project will also consider parking and traffic flow, branding and planning.
According to officials, architects will look through this input and begin design plans. In the next months, architects will submit the plans to the Allen County Board of Education.
The district says it will gather further input at that time. Officials are hopeful bids on the project can be received by fall, with a groundbreaking by the end of the year or in early 2026.
Upon a groundbreaking, officials say the project will be complete in 18 months.
News 40 will provide additional updates as more details are released.
