Air Methods of Glasgow hosts annual Battle of the Bases blood drive
GLASGOW, Ky. – For the fourth year, Air Methods of Kentucky hosted their Battle of the Bases blood drive, a competition between their six Kentucky area bases.
The bases in Elizabethtown, Bedford, Mount Sterling, Somerset & Glasgow as well as in Corydon, Indiana are all competing for bragging rights.
We spoke to one flight nurse on hand at the blood drive, who says they carry blood on the flights that they take to help save people.
She urges people to donate, as having this blood helps save numerous lives.
“We are most of the time at a blood shortage. So whatever we can get will definitely help. Especially our O positive or negative blood types. Those are the types that we can give to everyone, no matter what their blood type is. So that’s really important to get those people out here and get some donations,” Karen Amundson says.
While this year’s drive is over in Glasgow, officials still urge a donation of blood if you are able.
