Ag Commissioner Jonathan Shell attends 2025 Barren County Fair
BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – The annual Barren County Fair is here, with plenty of fun in store for everyone… and one state official decided to stop by.
Thursday featured an ATV Rodeo, a wrestling show, and rides and games for the whole family.
Ag Commissioner Jonathan Shell was in town for the fair tonight after visiting Jeremy Kinslow’s and Kenny’s Farmhouse, two local farms.
As the commissioner of the Department of Agriculture, his team also inspects all the rides at the fair, and provides grants for things like lights and sound systems, which he says is all worth it.
“My grandmother and grandfather were founding members of my local county fair in Garrard County, and we’ve seen some fall off over the years in attendance because there’s so much grabbing at our attention. This is a community event that happens at our local county fairs, and these are community members who have come together to put this on from our fiscal courts to our Kiwanis Clubs to so many other different organizations throughout the state. The more we can do to help them ensure that we have this community involvement, the better we’re going to be in our local communities to be able to have that connection long term,” Shell says.
Friday is the truck & tractor pull, with more fun in store for the weekend.
